Trezor
Pioneer hardware wallet with open-source firmware — Trezor Model T and Safe 3.
Trezor was created by SatoshiLabs in Prague in 2014 — the first hardware wallet on the market. Key advantage: completely open-source firmware (anyone can review and audit the code).
Models:
•Trezor Safe 3 (~$80) — newest, EAL6+ secure element, Shamir backup
•Trezor Model T (~$200) — touchscreen, older model
•Trezor One — discontinued, legacy
Trezor advantages:
•Open source — community can verify security
•Shamir Backup — seed phrase split into N parts, M needed for recovery
•Passphrase — 25th word as additional protection layer
•No Bluetooth (more secure than Ledger Nano X)
Disadvantage:
•Older models without secure element were vulnerable to physical attack (Kraken Security Labs demonstration)
•Safe 3 has secure element but firmware remains open source
Trezor Suite:
•Desktop app for device management
•Built-in swap and buy crypto
•CoinJoin for Bitcoin privacy
