Firedancer is an entirely new Solana validator client developed by Jump Trading — aiming to dramatically increase TPS and network resilience.
Why Firedancer:
•Solana had outages (March 2023, September 2021...)
•Single client = single point of failure
•Firedancer is a second client — redundancy
•If one client has a bug → network continues with other
Technical characteristics:
•Written in C (Agave = rust, Firedancer = C)
•Massively parallel networking design
•NUMA-aware (Non-Uniform Memory Access)
•Goal: 1,000,000+ TPS
•Benchmark tests: 600k TPS achieved
Development:
•2022: Announced
•2024: Frankendancer (Agave + Firedancer hybrid)
•2025: Full Firedancer expected on mainnet
