Market Cap Rank
Ranking of cryptocurrencies by total market capitalization — from largest to smallest.
Market cap rank is the position of a cryptocurrency on a list sorted by market capitalization — total value of all tokens in circulation.
Formula: Market Cap = Price × Circulating Supply
Categories by rank:
•Large-cap (Top 10) — BTC, ETH, BNB, SOL, XRP: largest, most liquid, safest
•Mid-cap (Top 11–100) — AVAX, DOT, LINK: higher risk, higher potential
•Small-cap (Top 101–500) — significantly riskier, lower volume
•Micro-cap (outside Top 500) — extreme risk, easily manipulated
Why rank doesn't mean everything:
•Circulating supply vs Total supply — if many tokens are "locked", real market value is lower than shown
•Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV) — market value as if all tokens were in circulation
•Project at rank 50 with FDV 10x higher than market cap = large token unlock risk
