Staking
Locking cryptocurrencies in a network to earn passive income.
Staking is the process of locking cryptocurrencies in a blockchain network as collateral for validating transactions (Proof of Stake consensus). Validators receive rewards in the form of new tokens — this is passive income.
Examples of cryptocurrencies that support staking: Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Cardano (ADA), Polkadot (DOT).
On exchanges like Binance and OKX you can stake without technical knowledge — simply choose a coin and period, and the exchange does it for you (so-called liquid staking or flexible staking).
Average annual yield (APY) depends on the coin and lock-up period — typically between 3% and 15%.
