DYOR for DeFi Protocols
Checklist for researching DeFi protocols before depositing funds.
Before depositing funds in a DeFi protocol, systematic DYOR (Do Your Own Research) is the only protection.
Checklist:
1. Smart contract audit □ Is there an audit? (CertiK, Trail of Bits, OpenZeppelin) □ Is the audit current (< 1 year)? □ How many critical issues were found/fixed?
2. Team □ Is the team known (doxxed)? □ Is there a track record? □ LinkedIn, Twitter, GitHub activity?
3. TVL and history □ How long has the protocol existed? □ What is the TVL? (Growing organically?) □ Has the protocol been hacked before?
4. Tokenomics □ Who controls admin keys? □ Is there a timelock on admin operations? □ Token distribution to insiders?
5. Community □ Discord/Twitter activity □ Do they respond to questions? □ Open source code?
6. Yield analysis □ Where does yield come from? □ Is yield inflationary or from real revenues?
